NEW EQUIPMENT SYSTEM

Feb.20.2018 BY KIXEYE_Chris

Our equipment system is getting an overhaul. This overhaul is happening in two parts, first is the transformation of equipment currency to an Equipment Commons system. Second, we are implementing a shared equipment system that allows equipment items to be used across multiple units. These changes will make equipment progressions more steady and reliable, as well as opening the door to even more equipment slots and types, making units more customizable and powerful based on what you equip.

EQUIPMENT COMMONS

Step one of this overhaul transforms the existing system of separate equipment criticals for each individual unit entirely into an “Equipment Commons” system. All currently owned equipment criticals are being transformed into one of five equipment common components:

    • Crew Tech
    • Armor Tech
    • Systems Tech
    • Weapons Tech
    • Defense Tech

These shared equipment components can be used on any piece of equipment of the same type, making it easier to upgrade your equipment without having to search for unique criticals.

Example of Equipment Commons: If there are five different equipment items that are all Systems Tech, your Systems Tech components can be used on any of those items that you choose. So, for those players that are currently sitting on lots of equipment criticals you cannot use, those will now be converted into something immediately useful for you.

You can earn these Equipment Commons in the new Daily Raid maps, and their availability will rotate regularly. Don’t forget to do your Daily Raids to make progress on Equipment!

SHARED EQUIPMENT

Tank and Artillery Units are being migrated to a shared equipment system. Under this system, most equipment items can be used across multiple units with similar functionality or unit class.

  • Existing equipment items for Tanks and Artillery units have been replaced with new shared equipment items.
    • After this migration you will end up with equipment power levels equal to – or higher – than what you had prior to this change. While some individual equipment items may appear to have been lowered in level, new equipment items have been added and upgraded to the appropriate advancement level, so it all balances out. If you were 50% through your progress of maxing out equipment on a unit before this change, you will be 50% through your progress of maxing out the total amount of equipment on a unit after this change.
  • The functionality of Heavy Vehicles has shifted to a more long-range and slow-moving type of strategic gameplay.
  • The remaining unit types (Gunships, Attack Helicopters, Assault Vehicles, etc) will be migrated to their shared equipment system in the coming months and targets will continue to be balanced to accommodate this new type of unit play.

Example: Merkava, M-270, and GMLRS all share an armor equipment. This means that obtaining this armor and leveling it up for one unit can in turn increase the power of all units that use this piece of equipment.

  • Note: Not all units will move to a shared equipment system. Some units, like the BM-30, are unique in their power model and therefore may not fit into the shared equipment system.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR GAMEPLAY?

  • Units will have more equipment slots moving forward, similar to the Pantsir and the Mantis.
  • Unit power will be determined more by equipment level than by unit level.
  • Equipment can now provide greater customization. You can choose to be especially resistant to specific damage types or units, or particularly proficient at different types of combat.
  • Components needed to upgrade a piece of equipment will be more regularly available, now that they’re Commons and exist as rewards in Daily Raids. You don’t need to worry about a specific equipment Critical not being available in events anymore.
  • Once an Equipment item is upgraded, it’s upgraded for every unit that uses it. This makes it much easier to start using a new unit, as you’ll likely already have upgraded equipment that makes that unit more powerful in combat.
  • This migration is an ongoing process! As more units are migrated to their shared equipment system, more targets will need to be re-balanced and playing styles will need to adjust to accommodate this new style of play.

We believe this system overhaul means greater opportunities for equipment creation by our design team, unit customization by our players, and a smoother transition between units that will create more varied types of gameplay for everyone. Enjoy!
