Alliance Tech Tree
May.15.2018 BY KIXEYE_Chris
Commanders, we are pleased to introduce the latest in a string of alliance features, the Tech Tree! Read the full details below.
ALLIANCE MENU REDESIGN
When opening the alliance menu, you will notice several new tabs, as well as a visual redesign.
New features on this alliance menu include:
- Tech tab – click to navigate to the Alliance Tech Tree
- Store tab – click to navigate to the Alliance Store
- Members tab – the Members tab has received a visual overhaul and is now sorted by members’ Alliance Credit contributions, from highest to lowest.
- Credit count – The left side of the Members menu displays the amount of Alliance Credits a player has obtained that week. More on Alliance Credits in the briefing on the Alliance Store.
For now, let’s select the TECH tab and navigate to the Alliance Tech Tree.
ALLIANCE TECH TREE
The Alliance Tech Tree is a shared progression system in which alliance members can donate metal or gold to level up individual research nodes. When a node is completed, it can unlock additional functionality or provide a permanent buff to all members of that alliance.
At launch, there are two branches to progress through in the tree: Logistics and Combat. Logistics provides benefits to base defense and operational functionality, while Combat provides benefits to offensive attacks.
Let’s select Logistics and see what’s available for us to upgrade.
Only a few nodes are available to donate to at a time, as higher level nodes are locked until more progress down the branch is made.
Selecting a node will open a popup that allows you to see what benefits are provided as the node is leveled up. This menu also provides options for donations.
DONATING
There are three types of donations that you can make to a node:
- Donate with Metal
- Donate with Gold
- Complete node level instantly with Gold
Donating with Metal is the most basic way of making progress in a node, and doing so pays out a small Alliance Credit reward along with your donation. Donating with Gold provides 10x the amount of donation that using Metal does, and pays out 10x the Alliance Credit reward.
Completing a node level instantly with Gold makes the greatest amount of progress and pays out the highest reward. While you can only make 10 donations every 4 hours using metal or gold, there is no cap on the amount of times you can complete a node entirely.
REFILL
Your available donation count automatically refills over 4 hours, or you can pay gold to refill it immediately.
Completing a node instantly factors in all refill costs that would be accrued if you were manually donating using gold. Therefore, while it may appear more costly to complete a node level instantly, it’s the exact same total cost as the other gold donation option.
NEW LEVEL REACHED
Congratulations! Your alliance has donated enough to level up a node. You now have that node as a persistent benefit, which applies to all current members of that alliance. However, there’s more to be done. Some nodes have multiple levels that can be completed to increase the power of the buff that is provided.
Other nodes may not become unlocked until a specific node has reached a certain level. Click on a locked node to read its prerequisites to become unlocked.
Fulfilling these prerequisites will make this node available to begin researching.

FAQS ABOUT TECH TREE
Q: Where can I see all the buffs I have?
A: There’s now several places to view what buffs are active for you – the Command Center, the Alliance profile menu, the Info Panel in War Zones, and the Buffs button in combat
Q: Do buffs stack?
A: You bet they do! Buffs compound by adding to one another. As an example, if you have a 1.6% metal steal buff and a separate 1.4% steal buff, then you have a total of 3% steal buff. This can add on to mechanics that are already in effect, and in the example of the 3% metal steal buff, this would add on to your existing metal steal rate of 10% to move you up to 13% metal steal rate in PvP!
Q: Can I track which alliance members are contributing the most to the Tech Tree?
A: Sort of. Donating to nodes gives out Alliance Credits as one of its prizes, which is cumulatively tracked in the members tab.
Q: Will more branches be added to the Tech Tree at a later date?
A: That’s the plan!
Q: Is the cost to COMPLETE a node immediately prorated to account for any progress that’s already been made?
A: Yes! As you make progress in a node, the cost to finish it immediately factors in the progress you’ve already made. However, note that the instant complete option includes any Refill costs you would incur in order to complete the node through gold donations.
Q: What happens if I leave my alliance and join a different one?
A: If a player leaves their alliance and joins a new one, a 4 hour timer will start before they are able to donate to the new alliance’s tech tree.
Q: Clicking the Alliance menu is so much woooooork, isn’t there a faster way I can get to the Tech Tree?
A: If you click your Alliance Embassy, you can now immediately access the Tech Tree through a new UI button. Additionally, the Embassy lights up a notification when you have donations available to make.
Q: What happens if I forget all of this information?
A: There is an info button on the Tech Tree – feel free to click it at any time you need a refresher on this information.
