Econ & Equipment Migration Q&A

Jun.20.2018 BY KIXEYE_Chris

Commanders, several questions have come up following the Helicopter Equipment Migration and June Economy Changes that we’d like to address.

Q: Unit build costs are higher! What happened?

A: Per the Economy Changes briefing, while build costs have gone up to more directly reflect unit capacity, equipment costs have been decreased by 65% in certain cases, which accounts for a greater total in overall unit costs. All told, these economy changes account for a ~25% decrease in costs across the average unit when upgrading them to max level. The cost of entry for a unit is higher, but the game just got significantly cheaper for all players.

Q: Why do some Helicopters work differently than they did before?

A: When moving to a shared equipment system, certain equipment items are going to be replaced with others, to allow these items to be shared across multiple units. These equipment items have different stats and functionalities, which in turn causes your units to play differently than they did before. This exact same change occurred in the Heavy Vehicle migration, and it took a few days for everyone to adjust to the new way that Tanks played. But players did acclimate to the new play style in the end and the community has since heralded that change as one of the more positive releases for ease of unit progression.

We encourage all players to read the descriptions of equipment items before taking them back out for the first time – so that everyone knows exactly how a unit is going to play before taking it into battle.

Q: I lost levels on certain equipment items. Why?

A: Whatever was lost was gained elsewhere. Let’s look at the Crew for the KA-50 as an example. This equipment item dropped several levels, even if it was maxed. However, it can now be used on the T-129 at its current level, which is a significant power upgrade for absolutely free. Additionally, there are as yet unreleased units that this Crew can be used on, which is yet another significant power upgrade for a unit – absolutely free. Overall, both in terms of power and value of what resources have already been invested in upgrading equipment, you are likely in almost exactly the same (or a slightly better) position to move forward with Helicopters than you were previously.

Q: Why did the capacity on some of my units change?

A: This was our fault, and we apologize. Amongst tracking and messaging all of the other changes that were going on, this one slipped through the cracks. Here is where Helicopter Capacity now stands:

Unit Tier Capacity
Cobra 2 150
HIND 2 150
Guardian 4 200
MI-28 4 250
KA-50 5 225
T-129 ATAK 6 250

Q: Why did these changes happen? How do they help us?

A: The equipment migration and functionality changes help define unit use cases more clearly, and make it significantly easier to start using new units right away (since you already have some of the new units’ equipment). The economy changes decrease costs for getting your units up to their most effective levels, which makes the game less grindy and much less expensive for everyone. It may take some getting used to – but this is a positive change for all players!

Good luck out there, Commanders.
