War Zones – World Revamped

Jan.03.2018 BY KIXEYE_Chris

The first change you’ll notice when War Zones is updated is the appearance of Regions and Zones. Here’s what’s changing:

NEW REGIONS, NEW ZONES

There are two Regions available in the new War Zones, Western Europe and the new Black Sea. These Regions are massive and, as such, a Zone Deploy Cooldown Timer will trigger for your base after deploying to a new Region. The cooldown timer must expire before you can switch Regions again.

Within each Region are three possible environment biomes: Lush, Arid, and Snow. These will determine the backdrop for the Zone itself and the environment of your base view background while you’re deployed in that Zone.

NO MORE ZONE RESTRICTIONS

Each Zone Area within a Zone will have a recommended player level range, which will be reflected in the level of Strongholds and Outposts that spawn in the area. However, there is no restriction for moving in or out of a particular Zone Area if you are not within the recommended player level range. You can deploy to any Zone regardless of your player level. This means you can meet up with your friends anywhere, fight players anywhere, and tactically control any territory.

But for those who don’t feel like they can compete with the top Commanders just yet, there’s no cause for alarm. In order to ensure that this Zone Restriction change doesn’t open up the floodgates for griefing, we’ve changed the loot drop system to take into account the level difference between Attacker and Defender. Attacking a player 11 levels below you means you won’t get any loot crates whatsoever after the battle. So there’s not a whole lot of reason to pick on someone a lot smaller than you.

THE END OF INSERTION POINTS

Insertion Points are being removed. While the idea of tactical entry areas that could be focal points of combat was a nice idea, in practice it served only as a hindrance and point of confusion for newer players. So, in order to ensure that the War Zones feel like a persistent world that players inhabit, we’re approaching things differently.

Once you reach CC3 and build the Global Operations building, your HQ will be permanently deployed in War Zones. When you deploy to a new Zone, your base will be semi-randomly placed into a Zone based on your player level range.

If your HQ is defeated while in War Zones, your HQ will not be removed from the map. Instead, your HQ will receive a temporary HQ Shield that prevents you from being attacked again for a limited time. Attacking another player, moving your HQ, or deploying a FOB will drop your HQ Shield, so be mindful of when your HQ is shielded and when it is not.

That’s all for World Revamped, Commander. Make sure to read tomorrow’s article, which dives into the upcoming rule changes for HQ Movement.
